The Zimbabwean team, which is touring Sri Lanka, has participated in a series of 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. While Zimbabwe had already lost the ODI series by 2-0, Sri Lanka was leading the T20I series by 1-0. In this situation, the 2nd T20 match was held at the Colombo stadium. Then the Sri Lankan team, which entered the field, lost 4 wickets for 27 runs and stumbled. After that both Asalanga and Mathews formed a partnership and rescued the Sri Lankan team. After setting up a partnership of 118 runs for the 5th wicket, Asalanga, who played well, smashed 69 runs including 3 sixes and 5 fours. Mathews, who was in the field till the end, added 66 runs including 2 sixes and 6 fours.

As a result, the Sri Lankan team added 173 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. After this, Craig Erwin scored 70 runs off 54 balls in the Zimbabwean team. With captain Sikandar Raza out for 8 runs, Zimbabwe needed 30 runs from the last 2 overs to win. Then 10 runs were added in the 19th over bowled by Madhushanka. With Zimbabwe needing 20 runs to win that over, Jangwe faced the bowling of Mathews. A six was hit off the first ball and the ball was declared a no-ball. The Zimbabwean team added 11 runs in a single ball after hitting a boundary in the first ball that was thrown again. This made the game exciting. Mathews bowled from around the stumps for another six off the 2nd ball.

While no runs were added in the 4th ball, only one run was added in the 5th ball. Thus, 2 runs in the last 2 balls were required for victory. Then Madante of the Zimbabwean team hit a six, and the Zimbabwean team scored 24 runs in the last over and got a huge victory. The Sri Lankan team’s loss to the Zimbabwean team at home has caused sadness among the country’s fans.
