Former England cricketer Dominic Cork believes that Pakistan should not be underestimated in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, even though the team is currently in disarray.
Cork, who is a former fast bowler, said that Pakistan may look “discombobulated” at the moment, but they are still strong contenders to win the tournament.
“Pakistan are just looking discombobulated,” he said. “You look at them, it looks like they have no chance at the World Cup, but we can never write them off.”
Cork sees hosts India as the strongest side in the tournament, but he believes that Pakistan’s team, led by Babar Azam, should not be discounted.
Pakistan will begin their World Cup campaign on October 6 against the Netherlands. They will then play Sri Lanka on October 10 and hosts India on October 14.
The Green Shirts will also face Australia on October 20, Afghanistan on October 22, South Africa on October 27, Bangladesh on October 31, New Zealand on November 4, and England on November 11.
In summary, Cork is saying that Pakistan is a dangerous team that should not be underestimated in the World Cup, even though they are not currently playing at their best.
